About this policy

Take A Sip (“we”, “us”, “our”) is an Australian digital product studio. We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). This policy explains what we collect through this website, why we collect it, who we share it with and the choices you have. It applies to this website and to enquiries made through it. Individual Take A Sip products may have their own privacy policies, which apply to those products.

Types of information

Personal information is information or an opinion about an identified individual, or an individual who is reasonably identifiable, whether or not it is true and whether or not it is recorded in a material form. Sensitive information is a subset of personal information that receives extra protection under the Privacy Act, such as health information, racial or ethnic origin, political or religious beliefs, and criminal records.

Information we collect

We only collect the information you choose to give us, plus a small amount of technical data needed to run the site.

• Enquiry details. When you use the contact form or the partner form: your name and email address, and, if you provide them, your phone number, company, website, the industry and stage of your project, the type of partnership you are interested in, your budget range, and the message or project details you write.
• Technical data. Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically records standard server information such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages requested, the referring page and the date and time of the request. We use this to keep the site secure and working.

We do not ask for sensitive information, payment card details or government identifiers through this website, and ask that you do not include any in your message.

How we collect it

We collect personal information directly from you when you complete one of our forms, and automatically through our hosting provider’s server logs when you visit the site. We do not buy contact lists or collect personal information about you from data brokers.

Anonymity and pseudonyms

You are welcome to browse this website without telling us who you are. Our enquiry forms ask for a name and an email address so that we can reply. You may use a pseudonym where it is lawful and practical, but if we cannot identify or contact you we may not be able to respond to your enquiry.

How we use your information

• To read and respond to your enquiry, and to assess whether we can work together.
• To send you an automatic email confirming that we have received your enquiry.
• To keep this website secure, prevent spam and abuse, and diagnose and fix technical problems.
• To keep records of our business dealings and meet our legal and regulatory obligations.

We use personal information only for the purpose it was collected, for a related purpose you would reasonably expect, or as otherwise permitted or required by law. We do not sell personal information.

Direct marketing

We do not add people who submit an enquiry to a marketing list, and we do not send marketing emails unless you have asked us to or otherwise agreed to receive them. If we ever send marketing messages, each one will include a simple way to opt out, and you can also ask us at any time to stop by using the contact form. The automatic confirmation you receive after submitting a form is a service message, not marketing.

Who we share it with

We share information only with the service providers that help us run the site and handle enquiries, and only as needed for those purposes:

• Our website hosting provider, which serves this site and processes requests made to it.
• Our email delivery provider, which sends enquiry notifications to us and confirmation emails to you.
• Our business email provider, where enquiries are received and stored in our mailbox.

We may also disclose information to professional advisers such as lawyers and accountants where needed, where the law requires or authorises it, or to protect our rights or the safety of others. We do not otherwise disclose your personal information to third parties.

Overseas disclosure

Some of these providers operate outside Australia, so your information may be processed or stored in other countries, including the United States and Japan. We choose providers that maintain appropriate security practices, but we cannot control the laws that apply in those countries. By submitting a form you understand that your information may be handled in this way.

Cookies and similar technologies

This website does not currently use advertising, analytics or tracking cookies, and we do not use it to build a profile of your browsing. Our hosting provider may use strictly necessary technical mechanisms to deliver pages securely and reliably. If we add analytics or other tracking in future, we will update this policy first and, where required, ask for your consent. You can also set your browser to refuse or delete cookies at any time.

Storage and security

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. These include encrypted connections (HTTPS), limiting access to enquiries to the people who need them, and using reputable service providers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, and you send information at your own risk.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiries only for as long as we need them to respond, to manage any resulting relationship and to meet legal or record-keeping requirements. When we no longer need personal information, we take reasonable steps to securely delete or de-identify it.

Access and correction

You can ask us to:

• tell you what personal information we hold about you and give you access to it;
• correct information that is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant or misleading; or
• delete your information, where we are not required to keep it.

To make a request, send us a message through the contact form and say that it is a privacy request. We may need to confirm your identity first. We will respond within a reasonable time, and if we cannot give you access or make a correction we will explain why.

Complaints

If you think we have not handled your personal information properly, please tell us through the contact form and we will investigate and reply. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.

Notifiable data breaches

If a data breach is likely to result in serious harm to you, we will notify you and the OAIC as required by the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme, and take steps to contain the breach and reduce the harm.

Children

This website is intended for businesses and adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us their information, please let us know and we will delete it.

This site may link to other websites. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of those sites, and encourage you to read their policies.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date at the top shows when it was last changed, and the current version is always available on this page.

Privacy collection notice

In short, when you submit a form on this website:

• Take A Sip collects the details you enter so that we can respond to your enquiry and keep records of it.
• If you do not provide your name and a working email address, we may not be able to reply.
• Your details are shared only with the hosting, email delivery and email providers described above, some of which are located overseas, including in the United States and Japan.
• You can ask to access or correct your information, or complain about how we handled it, as explained in this policy.
